SteelCorr, a Dubai based company that uses AI-powered corrosion monitoring to support asset integrity, welcomes two distinguished shipping technology and innovation veterans to its Strategic Advisory Board. Nakul Malhotra and Capt. Gordon Reilly will join the board as trusted advisors to shape and guide the go-to-market strategies of SteelCorr, working closely with the leadership team. Both advisors bring considerable experience in the fields of commercial strategy, technology and innovation in the maritime industry:

Nakul Malhotra, Vice President Open Innovation, Wilhelmsen – Nakul is deeply engaged in the ongoing corporate venturing activities of Wilhelmsen and the wider maritime sector. Leroy Dias, Founder of SteelCorr said “The Digital Paint Report (DPR)© app is an AI-powered Corrosion monitoring solution that sends asset managers objective insights on corrosion trends. Timely action can help reduce steel renewal and extend the asset life. Over 80 ships used our app in 2021 and we have an ambition to lead the area of intelligent inspection and reporting. This is where Nakul and Gordon’s decades of experience can add real horsepower.”

In addition to corrosion trend data, the timeline repository of all paint application and paint survey data, photos & videos can be shared with other stakeholders. Using Paint only when necessary is also a relevant though small step towards sustainability and lowering VOC release to the environment.

Nakul Malhotra, Vice President Open Innovation, Wilhelmsen Group said ”It is exciting to see maritime innovation being triggered in a number of global maritime centres and I am looking forward to helping Steelcorr as it expands its digital offering to new geographies and build out its ecosystem going forward.”

Capt. Gordon Reilly said ”The app addresses a very important aspect of maintenance monitoring and if used to purpose, it will bring a lot of value to the asset owner. Knowing Leroy’s ability to lead as well as pivot when needed, I am confident that SteelCorr will scale it’s unique offering very rapidly and am happy to support that journey.”
